Dr. John Marsh, California pioneer, murdered here September 24, 1856.

Plaque placed by the California State Park Commission in cooperation with the Martinez Horsemen's Association, February 22, 1960.

OHP description:

Dr. Marsh, who practiced medicine throughout the state from his home near Brentwood, purchased Rancho Meganos in 1837. On his way home from Martinez, he was murdered here by ruffians on September 24, 1856.
