#196:  Jamison City, Eureka Mills, Johnstown, and the Famous Eureka Mine

Location:

Eureka Mine is located at Plumas-Eureka State Park headquarters. Jamison City is next to the park campground and Johnstown is a short distance past the headquarters on Johnsville Road. Two state plaques exist for this site, both on Highway 89 - one just N of Mohawk Hwy Rd. and one at the corner of 70 and 89.

From the plaque:

Along the Pioneer Trail lies Jamison City and mine, large producer and famous for its 52-pound nugget. Eureka Mill and mine yielded $17 million to Cornish miners and others. Johnstown, now Johnsville, is a well-preserved '49er town.
